Maresca provides injury update on Cole Palmer ahead of crucial Arsenal clash

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has revealed that Cole Palmer’s availability for Sunday’s Premier League match against Arsenal is still uncertain following an injury sustained in Chelsea’s recent 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

Palmer was on the receiving end of a high tackle from United defender Lisandro Martinez during the match on Sunday. The challenge was severe enough to warrant a VAR review, but referee Rob Jones opted to show Martinez only a yellow card, sparking some debate over the decision.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s UEFA Conference League fixture, in which Palmer is not included in the squad, Maresca provided an update on the 22-year-old winger’s condition.

“Cole didn’t train yesterday, so we will see today if he can train with us,” Maresca said on Wednesday. “We hope [he will be available for Sunday]. We need to wait and see and then decide. The tackle was not a normal one. Hopefully, he can be back.”

Palmer has been in excellent form for Chelsea this season, scoring seven goals and registering five assists in 10 league appearances. His presence on the pitch would be a crucial boost for Chelsea as they prepare for a high-stakes match against Arsenal, one of their closest rivals in the Premier League standings.
