Atiku shares crucial lessons for Nigeria as Trump returns to the White House

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has highlighted important lessons Nigeria can learn from the recent U.S. presidential election. In his statement, Atiku emphasized the significance of a fair and trustworthy election process for the future of Nigeria.

Atiku, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, pointed out that the key lesson from the U.S. election is the integrity of the electoral process, which guarantees a credible outcome. He said that this is something Nigeria must prioritize to ensure that its elections are fair and transparent in the future.

According to Atiku, “The lesson for us in Nigeria is the integrity of the process that ensures a credible outcome.”

Atiku also expressed hope that the Trump administration, which has now returned to the White House after defeating his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris, would continue to support democracy worldwide. He said it is the expectation of every Nigerian that the new U.S. leadership would stand firm in advocating for free and fair elections, not only in the U.S. but in other countries, including Nigeria.

In his statement, Atiku extended his “warm congratulations” to the people of the United States, praising their unwavering faith in democracy. He added, “The people of the United States have once again shown the world the true power of the people’s voice and the sanctity of the ballot.”

As Nigeria looks ahead to its own elections, Atiku’s message calls for lessons in strengthening the nation’s electoral system to ensure that the voice of the people is always heard and respected.
