Hasselbaink names four clubs capable of winning Champions League this season

Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has revealed his four favorites to win the UEFA Champions League trophy this season, naming some of Europe’s top football clubs as contenders for the prestigious title.

With the new Champions League format underway, featuring all 36 qualified teams playing through a league phase with three matches each, Aston Villa has been the surprise leader, winning all three of their opening games. Liverpool and Manchester City are also in the top spots, while Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Arsenal are among the clubs tipped by Hasselbaink to lift the trophy this season.

Speaking ahead of this week’s Champions League fixtures, Hasselbaink, a former international star for the Netherlands and a key player for Chelsea, shared his insights on the teams with the best chances. “As well as Manchester City and Real Madrid, I’d put Arsenal and Barcelona in my four favourites to win the Champions League this season,” Hasselbaink told BoyleSports.

He added that while Bayern Munich had traditionally been a strong contender, he was not impressed by their recent form. “I might’ve said Bayern Munich, but I didn’t like how they played. I think it will be one of those four who lift the trophy. I really think Arsenal will go far,” Hasselbaink concluded.

The Champions League has seen intense competition this season, and with such high-caliber clubs in contention, it promises to be another thrilling campaign as the road to the final heats up. Fans will be watching closely to see if Hasselbaink’s predictions hold true as the knockout stages approach.
