Aiyedatiwa feeling worried before the big election — PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State is saying that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is getting very nervous as the upcoming governorship election on Saturday, November 16 approaches. They believe he is trying hard to win, no matter what it takes.

The PDP thinks the governor’s actions show that he is desperate. One of the things they mentioned is a big contract worth N31 billion to build a new judicial complex in Akure, the state capital. They claim this contract was given to the national chairman of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement from their Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, the PDP pointed out other strategies Aiyedatiwa is using, like a promise of a minimum wage of N73,000 and the hiring of over 400 aides, who still haven’t received their salaries since they started working two months ago.

“Since he couldn’t convince the people to trust him, he has resorted to some panicky measures. Because they weren’t well planned, they didn’t work out,” the PDP said.

The 416 political appointees, chosen from the 203 Electoral Wards, were surprised to find out that they didn’t get any salary alerts for the month of October 2024. The PDP questioned, “What’s the guarantee that, after losing the election in November, they will get paid?”

They added, “After ten months in office, it should be his programs and projects that do the campaigning for Governor Aiyedatiwa. Instead, he is hiring people to spread stories to the people of Ondo State, as if we can’t see or hear the truth.”
