Liverpool reclaim top spot with 2-1 victory over Chelsea

On Sunday, October 20, Liverpool surged back to the top of the Premier League table with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Chelsea.

The Reds had temporarily fallen to second place earlier in the day after Manchester City secured a comeback victory of 2-1 against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Liverpool took the lead when Mohamed Salah converted a penalty after Curtis Jones was fouled inside the box. Just three minutes into the second half, Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson leveled the score, slotting home a well-timed through-ball from Moises Caicedo.

However, Salah played a crucial role in Liverpool’s winning goal, assisting Jones, who calmly nudged the ball past Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. With this victory, Jürgen Klopp’s side now boasts 21 points from their first eight matches.
