AGN suspends Halima Abubakar for alleged misconduct

Actress Halima Abubakar has been suspended by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) due to what the Guild has described as professional misconduct.

In a statement released on Friday, the AGN announced that Abubakar’s “involvement in slandering Nollywood” was revealed after a two-year secret investigation.

The Guild noted that several other female members are also under scrutiny, particularly following the recent disclosure of names allegedly connected to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

The AGN found Abubakar “guilty of spreading false information about fellow colleagues, associates, and patrons, including allegations of extramarital affairs with highly placed individuals.”

The statement explained, “Following the thorough investigative report by the Special Secret Investigation Panel set up to conduct an underground investigation into the activities of some blogs/bloggers since 2022, the Panel found out that Miss Halima Abubakar was behind all the slandering information.”

As a result, Abubakar has been placed on indefinite suspension and is not allowed to participate in any AGN activities or filming. The matter will be taken up by the National Disciplinary Committee to determine the full extent of her punishment.

The AGN also mentioned that other female members on the watch-list are being investigated by the secret panel concerning the recent release of names linked to the Senate President.
