Court orders VeryDarkMan to take down harmful posts about Falana and Falz

On Tuesday, October 15, the Lagos State High Court ruled that Martin Otse, known online as VeryDarkMan, must remove harmful comments and videos about lawyer and human rights activist Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, Folarin.

Justice M. O. Dawodu issued the ruling in case ID/8584/GCM/2024. He stated that VeryDarkMan’s posts from September 24, 2024, which linked popular figure Bobrisky to Falz and his father, were damaging to their reputations.

Justice Dawodu noted, “According to the applicants (Falz and Falana), the defendant (VeryDarkMan) knew these statements (Bobrisky’s claims) were false and untrue but proceeded to publish them to injure their reputation.”

He also emphasized that as long as the posts remained online, the damage to their reputations would continue.
