On Tuesday, October 15, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that the important match between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Libya’s Mediterranean Knights has been taken off the schedule.
This match was supposed to be the second leg of their African Cup of Nations qualifier.
Originally, the game was set to be played in Libya at 8 PM, following the first match, which happened at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday. In that game, the Super Eagles won by scoring a goal right at the end!
However, things got tricky when the Super Eagles players and their officials faced a tough situation at the Libya airport, spending over 14 hours there and eventually having to return home. This led to a lot of confusion and discussions.
CAF has decided to investigate what happened, especially since the Libya Football Federation claimed there was some kind of sabotage and even suggested they might take legal action against Nigeria.
In their latest update, CAF shared information about upcoming games for Tuesday, but they did not include the Nigeria vs. Libya match. More details will come soon!
