Brigadier General MA Sadiq to be investigated by Nigerian Army

On Wednesday, October 9, the Nigerian Army announced that it has started an investigation into allegations of administrative issues involving Brigadier General MA Sadiq, the Commander of the 3 Brigade in Kano.

In a statement from Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, it was revealed that General Sadiq has been relieved of his command to allow for a thorough investigation.

Nwachukwu highlighted the Army’s commitment to discipline, stating, “The Nigerian Army, as a self-regulatory institution, has zero tolerance for indiscipline and will not condone any misconduct that undermines its core values.”

The statement addressed media reports that accused General Sadiq of misusing supplies meant for soldiers and their families. Allegations suggest he withheld essential palliatives, such as rice, provided by the Defence Headquarters, and instead sold military equipment intended for operations against terrorists and kidnappers.

Further claims state that Sadiq misappropriated official military property, including a heavy-duty generator, which was allegedly sold to scrap dealers. Due to these serious accusations, General Sadiq has been replaced by Brigadier General A.M. Tukur, who previously served as the registrar of the Nigerian Defence Academy.

Reports indicate that General Sadiq is currently being held at a military police facility in Abuja. The Army has assured both internal and external stakeholders that the investigation will be conducted fairly and according to established procedures.
