Leaders urge President Tinubu to help the people with rising fuel prices
On Wednesday, October 9, during the 64th Baptist Ministers Conference in Kaduna, important leaders, including Senator Shehu Sani and Rev. Joseph John Hayab, asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step in and help the people as petrol prices rise and cause economic trouble.
Senator Shehu Sani, who used to represent Kaduna Central, shared how the increase in fuel prices is making life harder for many Nigerians. He said, “We are a nation of 224 million people, and we cannot ignore the serious economic challenges facing the masses.
The President, Ministers, Governors, Senators, and those in authority must lead by making sacrifices to move the nation forward.” He reminded everyone that while changes can be tough, those changes shouldn’t fall only on the poorest people.
Rev. Israel Akanji, the President of the Nigerian Baptist Conference, agreed and said that the government should be careful with how quickly they make economic changes. He asked for lower fuel prices, explaining that it would help make food, rent, and school fees more affordable for families.
Rev. Joseph Hayab, the former chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna, pointed out that even though there has been progress in fighting against bad people, the threat of kidnapping and violence is still a big worry. He urged the government to take strong steps to keep everyone safe and bring peace back to the country.
