A devastating crime has shaken the peaceful community of Itumbuzo in Bende Local Government Area, Abia State, after a septuagenarian couple was brutally murdered in their home.
Jacob Udo, 78, and his wife, Dorcas Jacob, 73, were found lifeless in a pool of blood in their compound on October 2, 2024, at approximately 8:30 am. According to the police, several properties were stolen from the couple’s residence.
The Abia State Police Command swiftly responded to the report, visiting the crime scene and depositing the corpses at the mortuary for autopsy. In a significant breakthrough, three suspects have been arrested in connection with the heinous crime and are currently undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Umuahia.
Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the arrests and assured the public that the investigation is ongoing. Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, expressed deep concern over the incident, urging the community to remain calm and assuring prompt justice for the victims and their families.
