House of Representatives member Alhassan Doguwa has criticized former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso for his recent comments against the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
Doguwa described Kwankwaso’s claim that Nigerians would reject the APC in the 2027 elections as a “mere hallucination.”
Kwankwaso, while welcoming defectors from the APC to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano on Thursday, October 3, asserted that Nigerians, especially those in the North, are dissatisfied with the current administration and would not support the APC beyond 2027.
“Nigerians are tired and cannot endure beyond 2027,” Kwankwaso remarked during the event.
In response, Doguwa, who serves as the Chair of the Northern Regional Caucus of the 10th House of Representatives, accused Kwankwaso of being unable to accept his loss in the 2023 presidential election to President Bola Tinubu.
“At a political gathering on Thursday, October 3, my colleague Kwankwaso took his hallucination to the moon when he said Nigerians are tired of the APC and will change it in 2027,” Doguwa said in a statement on Friday, October 4.
Doguwa further asserted that the APC-led government, under the leadership of President Tinubu, is working diligently to transform Nigeria for the better. He suggested that Kwankwaso should prepare for political retirement, as the APC remains committed to addressing the country’s challenges and improving the lives of Nigerians.
“As we all know, President Bola Tinubu is not leaving any stone unturned in his quest to return our country to the path of progress and prosperity for the benefit of all,” Doguwa said.
He also criticized the NNPP for what he termed “non-performance” in Kano State, declaring that the APC is determined to reclaim the state in the next elections. He praised President Tinubu’s administration for its accomplishments, such as attracting over $30 billion in foreign direct investment, reducing Nigeria’s debt service ratio, and tackling insecurity in the North West.
“A fresh air is already permeating the North West given the onslaught against these bandits. Our people are now returning to their farms,” Doguwa added, commending Tinubu’s administration for its efforts in restoring peace and rebuilding the region.
Doguwa concluded by expressing confidence that Nigerians will continue to support the APC, and he dismissed Kwankwaso’s remarks as baseless political rhetoric.
