Legendary Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has identified Ederson as the best goalkeeper currently in the Premier League. However, he noted that Arsenal’s David Raya is also making a strong case for recognition.
Having won five Premier League titles with United and playing for Aston Villa and Manchester City, Schmeichel has a keen eye for talent in goal.
He believes Ederson stands out among the current crop of goalkeepers, even suggesting that Liverpool’s Alisson Becker has slipped behind Raya due to the Arsenal keeper’s recent form.
“Ederson is fantastic in terms of making big saves and 1v1 situations,” Schmeichel stated during the Stick to Football podcast with Sky Bet.
He added, “Alisson struggles a bit with his feet. There are a few mistakes that he would make that you don’t see from Ederson. That’s the only thing [between them]. Ederson is the best keeper in the Premier League. David Raya is coming close now too. He has really impressed me.”
