APC criticizes YIAGA Africa’s report on Edo election integrity

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong disagreement with Yiaga Africa’s report on the Edo governorship election, which claimed that the election results failed an integrity test.

In a statement released on Tuesday, September 24, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described Yiaga Africa’s report as a “travesty,” highlighting that it was filled with methodological flaws and politically biased observations.

The APC urged Yiaga Africa to avoid becoming part of what they called “the season’s annals of infamy.” They emphasized that the people of Edo State clearly chose Senator Monday Okpebholo as the next governor to guide the state toward a new era of peace, unity, and development.

The party criticized the report for suggesting that results were manipulated without providing solid facts or figures, stating, “Alleging that results were manipulated without hard facts is a clear disservice to the electoral process.”

In their statement, they pointed out that Yiaga Africa, while recognized as a civil society organization by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), should not attempt to second-guess the official results. They emphasized, “INEC is the sole authority for conducting and declaring election results, and Yiaga Africa must not act as a parallel agency.”

The APC concluded by reiterating that Yiaga Africa’s claims lack credibility and undermine the integrity of the electoral process.
