Zamfara PDP chairman criticizes Senator Yari over Matawalle comments

Alhaji Jibo Magayaki Jamilu, the chairman of the Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has criticized Senator Abdulaziz Yari for defending Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, against allegations of sponsoring banditry.

In a statement made on Monday, September 23, in Gusau, Jamilu said, “Instead of deflecting responsibility, Yari should advocate for an investigation into any potential complicity regarding the security issues in Zamfara State.”

He emphasized that Governor Dauda Lawal is not playing a blame game; rather, he is committed to setting the record straight for the sake of accountability and transparency. “He is actively focused on developing Zamfara State and addressing the pressing security issues, a commitment that should not be undermined by past administrations,” Jamilu added.

According to him, “Governor Lawal’s approach stands in contrast to previous governors, showcasing a dedicated effort to confront the state’s challenges head-on.”

Jamilu urged Senator Yari to direct his advice towards Matawalle, stating that all leaders should be held accountable for their actions. “Governor Lawal stepped into his role fully prepared to tackle these complex issues, and it is vital that the political class supports him in this endeavor rather than deflecting responsibility,” he said.

“Only through collective effort and accountability can Zamfara State move forward,” Jamilu concluded.
