Adeboye encourages couples to keep romance alive in marriage

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has emphasized the importance of maintaining romance in marriage, even amidst spiritual commitments.

In a heartfelt message on his Facebook page, he shared insights from his own relationship with his wife, Foluke, highlighting that “anointing does not reduce romance.”

Adeboye urged married couples to prioritize intimacy and affection to keep their marriages vibrant and joyful. He noted that some pastors avoid romantic activities, mistakenly believing they distract from their spiritual focus.

“The fact that you are a Christian does not take romance out of your marriage,” he explained. He referenced the Bible, specifically Genesis 26:8, where Isaac, an anointed man of God, was described as being affectionate with his wife, Rebekah.

He advised couples not to become rigid in their relationships. “Make the times you spend together so much fun that you always look forward to seeing each other again. Revive the long conversations you had before marriage and cherish those moments.”

Adeboye suggested simple yet meaningful ways to keep the romance alive, such as writing notes, using affectionate pet names, and surprising each other.

“Compose a poem for your spouse and read it in a romantic setting. Leave a note in their bag to brighten their day. Have a special pet name just for each other,” he shared. “When we are alone, we are lovers, not just church leaders. Your marriage can be like heaven on earth if you both remain intentional about being lovebirds.”

He concluded with a heartfelt reminder: “Don’t let the romance die.”
