On Friday, September 13, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State swore in six new high court judges.
This ceremony brings the total number of judges appointed under Governor Abdulrazaq’s administration, which began in 2019, to 11.
Governor Abdulrazaq hailed the event as a significant milestone, emphasizing his government’s dedication to justice, fairness, and the rule of law.
“This also marks a total of 11 High Court Judges whose oath of office I have administered within five years in office,” he said.
The governor congratulated the newly appointed judges and their families, noting, “I also celebrate your hard work and other noble qualities that have brought you here.”
“You have been entrusted with the important responsibility of upholding justice and protecting the rights of every citizen,” he continued. “I am confident that you will carry out your duties with diligence, impartiality, and with the community and national security in mind.”
Governor Abdulrazaq reminded the judges of the words of Usman Dan Fodio: “A kingdom can endure unbelief, but it cannot endure injustice.”
He assured the judges of his administration’s ongoing support, mentioning recent renovations and remodeling of courts within the state. He also announced the reconstruction of the former Revenue Court at GRA Ilorin to provide courtrooms for additional judges and improve the facilities for Revenue Courts.
Additionally, official SUVs have been provided for the new judges, and the government has ensured timely payments of allowances and entitlements.
The governor praised the judiciary, legislature, and security agencies for their collaborative efforts in developing Kwara State and maintaining peace and safety. He urged everyone to stay united in the quest for a better Kwara State and Nigeria.
