Portable blames Fela’s activism for his early death

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has controversially attributed the early death of Afrobeats pioneer and activist Fela Anikulapo-Kuti to his relentless activism.

In a podcast interview with media personality Quincy Jonze on the ‘Echoo Room,’ which has since gone viral on social media, Portable suggested that Fela’s death could have been avoided if he had focused more on his own affairs rather than dedicating his life to fighting for Nigerians.

“According to what we were told, if Fela had minded his business a little, he would have lived longer. But he was busy fighting for Nigerians who didn’t fight for themselves,” Portable stated.

In the same interview, Portable also addressed his recent online dispute with rapper Zlatan Ibile, attributing the fallout between himself and music star Davido to Zlatan. He described Zlatan as the “devil” who exacerbated the conflict between him and Davido.

“I was in America looking for foreign artists and displaying my madness online when Davido called me to come. Me and Davido did not quarrel until the devil Zlatan came,” Portable said.
