CDS Christopher Musa promises to capture Bello Turji soon

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has promised to capture the infamous bandit leader Bello Turji.

General Musa made this commitment while speaking to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, September 10.

Recently, Turji has been in the spotlight for allegedly taking two mine-resistant vehicles that belonged to the Nigerian Army. However, the military has denied these claims, explaining that the vehicles were taken out of service due to challenging terrain.

Despite the military’s explanation, Turji has demanded N30 million from the residents of Zamfara State as compensation for the deaths of his followers caused by soldiers.

General Musa assured that Turji’s demands would be dealt with once he is captured. He described Turji as a “deranged individual” who is trying to wield power through fear.

Musa stated, “On the issue of Turji, he is just a deranged individual who feels power, but I can bet you that it’s just a matter of time. It is a matter of time; we’re going to get him, and I can assure you that it will be within the shortest possible time.”

He added that addressing the issue of Turji’s levy on residents is part of their plan. “We’re going to address that issue on the issue of payment of levy (to bandits). That is what they live on. And it shows you the desperation they are in. One, even when they get the money, they don’t have a way to use it. Two, the money they’re getting is known as blood money.”
