Group calls on Tinubu to investigate officials linked to Bashir Hadejia, sack accomplices

The group Citizens United Against Terrorism (CUAT) is calling for a detailed investigation into allegations linking certain government officials to Bashir Hadejia, a suspected cross-border criminal and alleged gunrunner.

Recent reports revealed that Hadejia, who previously served as a special adviser to the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, was arrested by security forces. His arrest has raised concerns, particularly after photos and videos surfaced showing Hadejia with various high-profile politicians and celebrities.

At a press conference in Abuja, CUAT convener Dr. Emmanuel Agabi praised the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for the arrest but emphasized the need for a comprehensive investigation into Hadejia’s connections, including any implicated government officials.

CUAT also urged President Bola Tinubu to take immediate action by removing any appointees or cabinet members identified as accomplices by Hadejia.

Dr. Agabi stated, “We see Bashir Hadejia as a mere mask in the grand plot to destroy Nigeria, and we are interested in knowing the persons behind the mask. He is a puppet whose puppet masters must be revealed. Hadejia is like the leafy part of a weed; if his arrest is akin to pruning the weed, we must go the extra mile of removing the roots to truly address this issue.”

He continued, “Hadejia has been photographed or recorded with highly placed individuals in both current and past governments at various levels. The extent of his connections is alarming and raises serious concerns about potential protection he might receive from these officials. Nigerians do not want such interference; Hadejia must be held accountable for his actions against our nation.”
