Chelsea remains interested in acquiring Napoli striker Victor Osimhen but is prepared to proceed only with a loan arrangement, according to The Telegraph.
Napoli’s president, Aurelio de Laurentiis, is insisting that any prospective buyer must meet Osimhen’s €130 million (£110.8 million) release clause. Both Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, however, are hesitant to commit to such a high fee for the Nigerian forward.
Chelsea had previously been close to signing Samu Omorodion, having agreed on a €40 million (£34.5 million) transfer with Atletico Madrid. Unfortunately, the deal fell through due to disagreements over personal terms.
As a result, Chelsea has turned its attention back to Osimhen, but only under the condition of an initial loan agreement. This may present complications, as Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, has already dismissed the notion of the striker leaving Napoli at a reduced price.
