You’re stepping into big shoes – Tinubu swears in new Head of Civil Service Walson-Jack
On Monday, August 12, President Bola Tinubu officially swore in Didi Walson-Jack as the new Head of Civil Service of the Federation. The ceremony took place at around 1:00 pm in the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
Walson-Jack replaces Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, who retired on August 12, upon reaching the age of 60. Yemi-Esan had served as the Head of Civil Service of the Federation since her appointment on March 4, 2020.
Following the swearing-in, the Federal Executive Council held its meeting.
In his address, President Tinubu remarked to Walson-Jack: “You’re stepping into very big shoes, and we pray that God continues to guide you, provide you with wisdom, and enhance your integrity to serve this country and the civil service in the most successful way.”
Didi Walson-Jack, born on August 27, 1966, is a lawyer who studied at the University of Lagos. She was called to the bar in 1987 after graduating from the Nigerian Law School. Walson-Jack also attended the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru, Plateau State.
Before her current appointment, she worked at the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and was appointed Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education in January 2024, a role she held until taking up her new position.
