Edo 2024: Claims of funding APC campaign baseless, misleading – NDDC
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has denied claims that it is using its funds to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Edo State.
On Monday in Port Harcourt, NDDC’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Seledi Thompson-Wakama, dismissed these claims as baseless and misleading.
“NDDC is aware of online reports alleging that we are using contractors’ funds to finance the APC’s campaign in Edo. We want to address these false rumors about supposed fund diversion,” she said.
Thompson-Wakama explained that NDDC does not fund political parties or candidates. Instead, the agency is focused on boosting development in the Niger Delta.
“The NDDC board and management are committed to making a positive difference for the people of the Niger Delta. We ask the public to ignore these false reports meant to harm the commission’s reputation.”
She also noted that NDDC is committed to transparency and has recently partnered with KPMG to improve its governance and processes.
“We’re dedicated to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and working with regional governments and development partners to build a stable, prosperous, and peaceful Niger Delta,” Thompson-Wakama added.
