EndBadGovernance: Displaying Russia flag is treason – CDS Christopher Musa

On Monday, the Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa issued a firm warning to those calling for military rule in the country.

General Christopher Musa, addressed journalists after an emergency meeting with President Bola Tinubu. He emphasized that anyone displaying the Russian flag in Nigeria is committing a treasonable offense.

According to reports, during the EndBadGovernance protests, some demonstrators in northern states were seen flying the Russian flag, while others were calling for a military coup.

General Musa responded to these actions, stating that the law will hold those responsible accountable. He specifically addressed the calls for a coup, asserting that the military has embraced democracy and that attempts to overthrow the government will not be tolerated.

“We’ve seen foreign flags being flown in Nigeria, which is completely unacceptable. The President has directed us to make it clear: any foreign flag displayed here is considered treason and will be treated accordingly,” General Musa said.

He also addressed the issue of coups, reaffirming that Nigeria is a democratic nation and all security agencies are committed to protecting and upholding democracy. “We will not tolerate anyone trying to push for a change of government. Democracy is what we stand for, and we will defend it,” he added.
