Bukola Saraki’s former Chief of Staff Makanjuola leaves PDP

Former Chief of Staff to Senate President Bukola Saraki, Gbenga Makanjuola, has tendered his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a letter dated July 30, addressed to the Ward Chairman in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Makanjuola formally notified the party of his decision to leave. Copies of the letter were also sent to the Local Government Chairman and State Chairman of the PDP.

Makanjuola, a seasoned politician and close associate of Saraki, has had a distinguished career in public service, serving two terms in the House of Representatives and as a two-time Deputy Governorship candidate for the PDP in 2019 and 2023.

Although the reason for his resignation is unclear, it comes on the heels of his recent acquittal by a Federal High Court in Abuja, which discharged him of N3.5 billion fraud allegations brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

No indication has been given as to whether Makanjuola intends to join another political party.
