Asari-Dokubo warns protesters off Niger Delta
Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, a former Niger Delta freedom fighter, has warned against extending the planned nationwide protest against hardship to the Niger Delta region. He stated that the protesters’ agenda does not align with the problems of the Niger Delta people and that they are only interested in the region’s resources.
Asari-Dokubo vowed to resist the protest, calling the protesters “anarchists” who want to ride on the backs of the Niger Delta people. He also criticized them for not including the needs of the Niger Delta in their demands.
He warned that anyone who tries to bring the protest to the region will face resistance, citing a previous incident in Oyigbo, Rivers State, where protesters were resisted.
Asari-Dokubo emphasized that the Niger Delta people should not be deceived by flowery words and statements, but rather look at the impact of actions on their society and environment.
