…welcomes 800 defectors to ADC in Plateau

Former Kaduna State governor, Nasiru El-Rufa’i, has declared that Nigerians are ready to unite and defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, as well as governors defecting into the party.
Mr El-Rufa’i stated this on Wednesday during the unveiling of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, National Contact and Mobilisation Office in Plateau State.
He said Nigerians have become increasingly disillusioned with the current political leadership and are now looking to the ADC as a credible alternative.
“I know everybody is tired of the APC and PDP. Everybody is looking up to the ADC to save Nigeria. Governors are defecting from PDP to APC. By God’s grace, 230 million Nigerians will defeat 25 governors,” he declared.
The former governor said ADC leaders are determined to unite and field credible candidates with sound policies that could restore confidence in governance and reposition the country.
He added that they left the APC because it had “become a party of tyranny, theft and divisiveness,” stressing that the ADC intends to restore integrity and ethical leadership in Nigeria.
Also speaking, Plateau State Coordinator of the ADC Contact and Mobilisation Office, Jamilu Lawandi-Datti, said the official opening of the office signals the beginning of a movement aimed at bridging the disconnect between governance and the people, particularly the youth.
He listed the challenges confronting young Nigerians — unemployment, insecurity, poor education, inadequate healthcare, political exclusion, and corruption — saying these issues have weakened trust in governance.
“Together, we will build a Nigeria that works for all,” he said, calling for unity and shared responsibility for national development.
In her remarks, the State Chairman of ADC, Hannatu Gagara, described the event as a milestone in grassroots mobilisation.
She formally received over 800 defectors from both the APC and PDP and assured them of equal rights and privileges within the ADC.
The event drew a large crowd of supporters, raising optimism among party members that the ADC could emerge as a strong political force ahead of future elections.
