Chelsea legend John Terry has identified four players he believes are crucial to England’s hopes of winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup following their victory over Mexico.
The former defender said Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, Declan Rice and Reece James are the leaders driving Thomas Tuchel’s side.
‘They cannot get injured’
Speaking on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Terry stressed that England cannot afford to lose any of the quartet to injury as the tournament enters its decisive stages.
According to him, they set the standards on and off the pitch and will be key to the team’s success.
“There’s leaders in the group. Harry Kane, we have seen that in his football career, Jude Bellingham at that young age doing that already, Declan Rice, I’m also including Reece James in that.
“They cannot get injured and have to be at the forefront of our success. Without those guys driving the team, driving the standards.”
England march into quarter-finals
England booked their place in the World Cup quarter-finals with a convincing victory over co-hosts Mexico in the Round of 16.
Bellingham scored twice, while captain Kane also found the net as the Three Lions advanced to the last eight.
Tuchel’s side will now face Norway on Saturday for a place in the semi-finals.
