2025 Budget: Ogun assembly urges MDAs to prioritise accountability in spending
The Ogun State House of Assembly has urged all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state to prioritize accountability and transparency in their spending as the state prepares to implement its 2025 budget.
The assembly’s call for accountability comes as Governor Dapo Abiodun presents a proposed budget of N1,054,542,020,147.47 for the 2025 fiscal year, dubbed the “Budget of Hope and Prosperity”.
The budget, which focuses on capital projects, infrastructure development, and improved social services, is aimed at achieving a quick turnaround in the socio-economic development of the state.
However, the assembly is stressing the need for MDAs to be transparent and accountable in their spending, to ensure that the budget is implemented effectively and efficiently.
According to the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Olakunle Sobukola, the assembly is committed to ensuring that the budget is implemented in a transparent and accountable manner.
“We are committed to ensuring that the budget is implemented in a transparent and accountable manner,” Sobukola said during a press conference in Abeokuta on Tuesday. “We urge all MDAs to prioritize accountability and transparency in their spending, to ensure that the budget is implemented effectively and efficiently.”
Sobukola also emphasized the need for MDAs to provide regular updates on their expenditure, to ensure that funds are used for their intended purposes.

The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has assured that the 2025 budget will be another milestone towards achieving a quick turnaround in the socio-economic development of the state.
According to Abiodun, the budget is designed to address the critical needs of the state, including infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and agriculture.
